Hi, today I listened to a podcast about how do trees help the environment. Trees help in more ways than one, supporting humans and other animals to live on this planet.
Main points:
- People shouldn't plant trees to capture carbon emissions, they should be planted to restore ecosystems
- The right thing to do for ecosystems is not to plant more things, it's to leave it alone
- Large scale restoration projects also could produce unintended consequences: accelerate climate change
- Trees help cleanse the environment: clearing floods, filter and clean soil, ect.
- Trees provide biodiversity and are homes to various animals
