Hello, today I read an article investigating methane emissions in rivers and its surprising data. Freshwater rivers contribute to approximately half of the global emission today; however, because of greenhouse gasses, the rates and patterns of these emissions heavily fluctuate.

Main points:
- Rivers and streams at higher latitudes produce the same amount of methane as warmer water in the tropics
- Surrounding habits to rivers contribute to the fluctuations of methane production in rivers
- The findings of these habitats could improve methane estimates
- Land management changes and restoration opportunities could reduce the amount of methane produced by rivers
Thank you for reading and come back next month for a new post!
